Best Career Options after BTech – Computer Science & engineering

Best Career Options after BTech – Computer Science & engineering

Even to this day, B. Tech is the most favourite graduation field among Indian students. Millions of students enrol in various engineering courses in thousands of universities across India; however, only a few end up being with a job in their specific domain. The rest either choose a post-graduation course, a job in other engineering domains or a completely different job in other industries. There are many career options after B. Tech that you can explore if you do not wish to work as you initially planned. In this post, we will take a look at the best career options that you can pursue after completing any B. Tech degree.

Should you opt for higher studies?

Before we begin our list, let’s discuss about pursuing higher studies after engineering. Post graduation has become compulsory to apply for many jobs. Besides that, having a post graduate degree on your resume provides you an added advantage over other individuals applying for the same job.

Post-graduation improves your worth, and pursuing it is indeed a great option in today’s time, when there is a huge lack of jobs across the nation.

s

Best Career Options after B. Tech

Let’s now move on to the top career options that you can consider exploring after passing your B. Tech:

1) Join the Indian Defence Forces

The Indian Defence forces have three wings- the army, the navy and the air force. You can find an employment opportunity with any of these wings as an engineer.

The Indian Army requires engineers who can support the soldiers in the field, through their technical knowledge. You can join the army through a program known as the Technical Graduate Course (TGC). Once you have cleared the exam, you will become a part of one of the three wings, namely Corps of Engineers, Corps of Signals and Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers.

If for some reason, you do not wish to join the army, you may consider serving the nation through the Indian Air Force. Here, you can become a part of the ground squad or the technical squad depending on your skills and, of course, qualifications. You must pass the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) to enter this field.

In order to join the navy, you must clear Special Naval Architects Entry Scheme (SNAES).

2) Civil Services

UPSC is another medium through which you can serve the nation. Your parents may also feel proud even if you at least try – the result is secondary, as the UPSC Civil Services Exam is considered as one of the most difficult examinations in the entire world. You must prepare whole-heartedly for at least 1 year to successfully clear the exam and subsequent rounds in the initial attempts.

More than 10 lakh aspirants take up this exam every year. If you clear both the preliminary exam and the mains (including interview) you can gain the prestigious post of IAS, IPS, or IFS.

3) Get into private sector

Private sector offers a lot of career options after B. Tech. In case you haven’t been successful in grabbing a campus placement, you can take your time to research and get into private companies through reputed job portals such as LinkedIn, Indeed and Naukri.

Many private jobs need only a graduate – regardless of the specialization. But, since all graduates qualify for the job in question, there’s a lot of competition and a low salary. Your resume is where you can surpass your opponents. So, you must make sure that your skills catch your potential employer’s eyes as soon as they come across your CV.

Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gujarat and the NCR are home to lakhs of small-scale and medium-scale private companies. Getting hold of a decent job in these areas can be a cakewalk.

4) Entrepreneurship

Two decades ago, engineers used to shy away from business ideas. However, the landscape has changed drastically over the course of years. This has been possible because of many notable startups that have been launched by engineers, every now and then. However, launching an innovative business isn’t as easy as it may sound. You have to come up with highly innovative ideas to make a mark. The entire journey involves a lot of perseverance and patience. But the rewards are indeed worth the effort!

5) Grab an internship

Internships are a great way to gain new skills without paying for it. Instead, if you are lucky, you may get some stipend for your time and effort. An internship is a 2-way gain game – both the company and the individual gain from it. There’s nothing to lose. Most internships – also known as apprenticeships – last only 6 months, but they help build your professional outlook and gain a vast understanding of work ethics.

6) Public Service Undertakings

Government run public Public Service Undertakings (PSUs) are a great place to start you career after B. Tech. But, in order to become eligible, you must get a certain score in GATE exam. Yes, most PSUs set a particular GATE score for individuals seeking a job with them. BHEL, SAIL and IOCL are among the top employers when it comes to government sector jobs. Their employees enjoy great remuneration, job security and a respectable position in the community.

7) Earn a certification

There is no age to stop learning! Even after completing your B. Tech, there’s a lot that you can learn through certifications. With many online learning portals on the rise in recent times, there are literally thousands of certifications that you can take up right from the comfort of your home. Engineers can pursue various digital marketing and programming certifications. Graduates in computer science and electronics can take up the following certifications:

Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (Core Infrastructure)

Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)

Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)

Project Management Professional (PMP)

Conclusion

We hope that with the above-mentioned points you can now expand your long-term vision and work on turning your dreams into reality. Graduating with a B. Tech degree doesn’t mean that you have to be stuck with the conventional engineering jobs for your entire life. You can always gain new skills, apply for other jobs and appear for exams that will allow you to enter other industries.

Remember, you always have a choice!

Webtech Learning wishes you great luck for your career after B. Tech!

This list of interview questions contains understanding custom objects, Force.com platform, Salesforce dashboard components, Visualforce, Object Query Language Vs Object Search Language, Salesforce report types, and much more.

  • What is an App in Salesforce?

An app in Salesforce is a container that contains a name, a logo, and a group of tabs that work as a unit to provide specific functionality. Users can switch between apps using the Force.com app’s drop-down menu at the top-right corner of every page.

2)    How does Salesforce deploy Sales Tracking?

Salesforce is very meticulous when it comes to recording intricate details like sales numbers, customer details, customers served, repeat customers, etc. Salesforce makes it easy to create detailed reports, charts, and dashboards for keeping track of sales.

3)    What is a Master–Detail Relationship?

Master–Detail relationship is basically a parent–child relationship, in which ‘Master’ represents the parent and other details represent the child. If the parent is deleted, then the child also gets deleted. Roll-up summary fields can only be created on Master records, which will calculate the SUM, AVG, and MIN of the child records.

4)    What happens to detail record when a master record is deleted? What happens to child record when a parent record is deleted?

In a Master-Detail relationship, when a master record is deleted, the detail record is deleted automatically (Cascade delete).
In a Lookup relationship, even if the parent record is deleted, the child record will not be deleted.

5)       What is SOQL used for?

SOQL stands for Salesforce Object Query Language. It is very similar to the widely used language SQL (Structured Query Language), to query databases. SOQL is specifically designed for Salesforce data and is used to query the Salesforce platform to retrieve data. SOQL is used within Apex & Visualforce to return sets of data.

There are three types of bindings used in Salesforce:-

  • Data bindings, which refer to the data set in the controller
  • Action bindings, which refer to action methods in the controller
  • Component bindings, which refer to other Visualforce components.

Data bindings and Action bindings are the most common and they will be used in every Visualforce page.

12) What is trigger.new?

13)  What is a Static Resource in Salesforce?

A static resource lets us upload content that is in the form of .jar and .zip formats, style sheets, JavaScript, and so on. It is recommended to deploy a static resource rather than uploading files to the Documents tab since it is possible to pack a set of files into a directory hierarchy and upload it. These files can easily be referred to in a Visualforce page.

14) What are the different types of Collections in Apex?

Collections are the type of variables used to store multiple numbers of records (data). Types of collections in Salesforce are:

  • Lists
  • Maps

For example, if you need to match up data from an external accounting system to the Accounts in Salesforce, you can use an external ID field to reference the Accounting systems unique ID instead of the Salesforce ID.

18)  Differentiate WhoID and WhatId.

“WhoID” refers to people like contacts or leads.  Whereas “WhatId” refers to objects. Let us consider LeadID, ContactID are forms of “WhoId” and AccountID, OpportunityID are “WhatId”.

tf–idf is short for term frequency–inverse document frequency, is a numerical statistic that is intended to reflect how important a word is to a document in a collection or corpus. It is often used as a weighting factor in information retrieval and text mining. The tf-idf value increases proportionally to the number of times a word appears in the document, but is offset by the frequency of the word in the corpus, which helps to adjust for the fact that some words appear more frequently in general.

  1. Do gradient descent methods always converge to same point?

No, they do not because in some cases it reaches a local minima or a local optima point. You don’t reach the global optima point. It depends on the data and starting conditions.

  1. What is an Eigenvalue and Eigenvector?

Eigenvectors are used for understanding linear transformations. In data analysis, we usually calculate the eigenvectors for a correlation or covariance matrix. Eigenvectors are the directions along which a particular linear transformation acts by flipping, compressing or stretching. Eigenvalue can be referred to as the strength of the transformation in the direction of eigenvector or the factor by which the compression occurs.

  1. What is ‘Naive’ in a Naive Bayes ?

The Naive Bayes Algorithm is based on the Bayes Theorem. Bayes’ theorem describes the probability of an event, based on prior knowledge of conditions that might be related to the event.

  1. What is Systematic Sampling?

Systematic sampling is a statistical technique where elements are selected from an ordered sampling frame. In systematic sampling, the list is progressed in a circular manner so once you reach the end of the list, it is progressed from the top again. The best example of systematic sampling is equal probability method.

  1. Explain cross-validation.

Cross-validation is a model validation technique for evaluating how the outcomes of statistical analysis will generalize to an Independent dataset. Mainly used in backgrounds where the objective is forecast and one wants to estimate how accurately a model will accomplish in practice.
The goal of cross-validation is to term a data set to test the model in the training phase (i.e. validation data set) in order to limit problems like overfitting and get an insight on how the model will generalize to an independent data set.

  1. What is the Supervised Learning?

Supervised learning is the machine learning task of inferring a function from labeled training data. The training data consist of a set of training examples.
Algorithms: Support Vector Machines, Regression, Naive Bayes, Decision Trees, K-nearest Neighbor Algorithm and Neural Networks
